The Committee of Relief and Cooperation for the Advancement of Haiti (CORCAH) is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt not for profit organization. CORCAH was incorporated under the laws of the State of New York on November 24, 1986. We are working to foster partnerships, promote sustainable economic growth, and to find lasting solutions to poverty. We uphold the organization's mission of creating the conditions for economic growth and opportunity by sharing knowledge, promoting innovation, and empowering people.

CORCAH provides a unique mechanism for members, partners and leaders to discuss solutions to common economic and social problems in a comprehensive way. Our utmost goal is to promote activities and programs pertaining to poverty reduction, community empowerment and social learning, quality education, environment and natural resources, banking and finance, healthcare and nutrition, local finance, rural poverty and development, application of advanced technologies for strategic planning, agriculture, economic growth, sustainable tourism, environmentally sound marine transportation, integrated watershed management and marine ecosystem-based management. CORCAH will pursue these aims through coordinated quantitative and qualitative approaches. We will seek opportunities to implement new innovative strategies while striving to foster partnerships and maintain strong relationships in pursuit of our mission and shared goals.

We have made tremendous progress, deploying a mission-critical website, developing sound projects, and creating a board of directors to foster a culture centered on integrity. Our strategic plan is based on fundamental beliefs. We promote economic growth. We empower people to build a better future for themselves and their community. We value knowledge sharing. With a strengthened vision of cooperation and solidarity, the Committee of Relief and Cooperation for the Advancement of Haiti (CORCAH) was formed legally in 1986 to define, understand and resolve poverty issues in Haiti. We are striving to confront the continuing and growing challenges in the Caribbean region.

WHAT WE DO
 

In partnership with regional, national and international organizations, we deliver hope to people in need around the world and, particularly, in Haiti. We are helping alleviate human need and suffering. By fostering partnerships, we develop resources necessary to provide hope and a future to millions living in poverty.

We differentiate ourselves by, among other things, our focus on professional services. To ensure the implementation of our high service standards, we set “CORCAH Guiding Principles”. One of our top priorities is to continue our strong execution in the area of poverty alleviation. We intend to continue to improve our services through programs that emphasize proactive, interpersonal communication between stakeholders.

Our experts have demonstrated their ability in training project personnel and providing technical assistance. We are ready to assist with monitoring and evaluating core projects by participating in project supervision missions. We use a variety of creative approaches to support citizen-led development efforts and mobilize a variety of local as well as external resources to sustain community dynamism. We increase the understanding of community driven development and its role in poverty reduction by empowering people. As a result, men and women effectively organize to provide goods and services that meet their immediate priorities. Our Quantitative Analysis approach is broadly based on giving control of decisions and resources to community groups.
