HIV/AIDS AND
INFECTIOUS DISEASES
CORCAH and our partners are working to make a positive difference in people's lives. We truly enjoy the opportunity to be part of a strong team, developing innovative ideas and implementing new pathways. We are proud to serve individuals and families around the world. We are committed to helping people achieve lasting victories over poverty. We share knowledge, provide economic opportunity, and strengthen capacity for self-help.
HIV/AIDS is clearly a health problem. It is also a development problem that threatens human welfare and socio-economic advances. By working in partnership, we improve our efficiency and effectiveness, and increase our impact on HIV/AIDS through prevention. We raise awareness among the public, and we believe we can achieve greater impact through collective efforts
Hope through Treatment
We recognize that treatment and access to medication for those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, as well as prevention, care and support are inseparable elements of a comprehensive health-sector response at the national level, and requires adequate financial support from donors. We understand the central role of our organization and the need to strengthen health systems and human capacity development so that countries and communities may contribute fully. To reach our goals, we foster partnerships to strengthen our capability to deliver HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support services. Building a Brighter Future through Partnerships:With a view to improving coordination in the response of HIV/AIDS, we encourage partnerships. We provide technical leadership and support to communities. We are working tirelessly to facilitate efforts of poor countries to strengthen national health systems, with special reference to human resources development and health information. The aim of CORCAH is to support an expanded response that engages the efforts of many sectors and partners from government and civil society. We focus our efforts on the Millennium Development Initiative. We view it as a blueprint for achieving a more peaceful, prosperous and just world through a global partnership for economic cooperation and development.
Opportunity to reduce extreme poverty while fighting HIV/AIDS Our utmost goal is to reduce extreme poverty and hunger, and develop a global partnership for development. We also seek to reduce infant and maternal mortality, fight HIV/AIDS and other diseases, reduce the vulnerability of individuals and communities to HIV/AIDS, and alleviate the impact of the epidemic. In the hardest-hit countries, AIDS is dramatically reducing life expectancy and economic potential, increasing the vulnerability of future generations by creating millions of orphans, and diminishing the capacity of public and private sectors. Worldwide, experts believe that the rate of new HIV infections could escalate by 25% or more by 2005. Saving Lives by protecting Health:CORCAH is committed to improving the health and well-being of families. We are proud to be a partner for AIDS Relief. Our initiative is focused on achieving the Millennium Development Goals. To further strengthen CORCAH's ability to respond to the increasing threat of new and re-emerging infectious diseases, we foster partnerships to facilitate the control, prevention, and mitigation of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. CORCAH works closely with partners to: a) Support and coordinate efforts in scaling up treatment, care and prevention b) Share technical expertise and strategic information management c) Facilitate global support for learning through experience d) Assist communities in mobilizing resources e) Develop a comprehensive response to HIV/AIDS f) Play a valuable role in identifying solutions g) Prevent diseases through education and control programs.
