Message from the CEO
At CORCAH, we continue to be a firm supporter for the implementation of the Millennium Development Initiative. We support the worldwide efforts to mobilize civil society behind the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). We celebrate the strength and significance of the partnership between world leaders, MDG campaign activists and representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGO), and, most importantly, people from the front lines where the urgent need for the implementation of the MDGs is most clearly felt.
We can do much good when we work together with common purpose. We are focusing our attention on what unites us. We share innovative approaches to partnerships. The growth of civil society has been one of the most significant trends in international development. We learned that the participation of Civil Society Organizations can enhance the operational performance of government development projects. With this in mind, we are contributing and sharing knowledge, inspiring stakeholders, and providing technical expertise.
Our partnership not only benefits us, it, also, gives people across the globe the best chance for a better life. By working tirelessly to raise awareness and support for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), we are telling the world that there is nothing we hope for more then a world that is prosperous. We are confident that our hopes will become realities. We face many challenges, but we are confident that we will meet them all in the days and months ahead.
The Committee of Relief and Cooperation for the Advancement of Haiti (CORCAH) has reached out to other organizations to promote economic development and cooperation. We are interested in fostering partnerships with governments, private businesses, universities, other donor agencies, and civil society organizations. We now welcome new partners in the areas of forest conservation, health care, education, rural poverty, micro-enterprise, watershed management, and Internet development.
We conduct learning and knowledge sharing programs to enhance the skills and development of our members. We strongly encourage knowledge sharing initiatives to provide our stakeholders with access to new information technologies. We thank, above all, the extraordinary dedication of our partners. We always have in our mind the supreme sacrifices made by our volunteers.
In light of the enormous challenge facing the global community to eradicate poverty -- which affects nearly half of the world’s population living on less than $2 dollars a day – we are hoping to play a more inclusive role in macroeconomic development discussions, strategic planning, and Millennium Development Initiative.
We respectfully suggest a quantitative analysis approach that aims to empower community groups to control decisions and resources which affect their lives. With participatory decision-making and citizen monitoring mechanisms, CORCAH is well-positioned to offer programs and services while carrying out community development efforts.
